The authorities in the northwestern region of Xinjiang have executed 2 ethnic-minority Uighurs and sentenced 15 others accused of terrorist ties, according to several local citizens who attended their trial. The Kashgar Intermediate Court sentenced to death two men, identified as Mukhtar Setiwaldi and Abduweli Imi, and immediately executed them on Wednesday. Most of the rest were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 10 years to life. All were charged with being members of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, which China accuses of having ties with terrorist groups.
